Lady Fire Organization History

The Organization was founded in 2003 as a 10u girls team of mostly beginning players and a few Biddy girls. That team qualified for AAU DI Nationals in Orlando Fla. After competing for the first time in a major National event the girls returned with new hope for future years.

Growing into a program of substance the team worked hard to acquire a true identity. With that the team purchased new uniforms and held tryouts for new players as a determined group, that team participated in the AAU 2004 DII Nationals in Nashville, Tn and ultimatley competed in the Tournament Shootout Championship Game and bringing home second place honors and committed attitude toward winning and development.

As this organization faced opponent after opponent one thing became obvious; we were one of the best in the State of Louisiana. The Fire team followed 2004 with a trip to 2005 12u DI Nationals in Amarillo, Tx and the 2006 DII Nationals in Nashville, Tn finishing 4th overall and raising the expectations of many to be the best. The 2007 Fire team had championship game appearences in two Super Regional tournaments and traveled to Houston Tx, winning the Addis Sponsored Houstonian Invitational.That was followed up by the most successful season to date, the team completed the 2007 season at the DI Nationals in Roanoke Va. where they won 4 out of six games and knocked of a #9 seeded Nike sponsored team in a pool of 82 teams and got attention of several colleges and universities during the tournament.

The true essence of any organization is found in its ability to grow and be consistant in its efforts. Since our begining we have welcomed a number of additions to our team that has help to make it what it is today and one great thing is that we still have four of the original 9 team members. Our goal is to see eveyone of our players move on to the college ranks as a student athlete through acdemics and all of the life skills learned in their journey as Fire girls in addition to great court skills learned through competition and preparation.
